This listing is for a brilliant deep purple Amethyst gemstone cocktail ring in Sterling Silver. This handmade statement piece is entirely handmade. I started the process by hand carving the setting and band on this ring in wax, then cast the piece into Sterling Silver. The band wax crafted to be thick and sturdy at the base, and taper up where it attaches to the bezel. The band is very sturdy, but still has a delicate thin appearance from top down. I didn't want a chunky band on this piece but it has to be solid to hold such an incredible stone! The band measures 3mm wide by 2mm tall at the base, and tapers to about 1.5mm wide, by 2mm tall. The setting was customized to this stone, and it is set using a hammer setting technique to fold over the very heavy sterling silver walls. This ring was polished to a bright shine, but you can also request a change to a matte brushed metal finish at checkout.

The gemstone set in this design is a sparkling AAA quality checkerboard faceted dark purple African Amethyst. The gorgeous "checkerboard" faceting means that the bottom of the stone has facets that bounce the light around within the stone, and there is curved facets over the top of the stone that sparkle on the surface as well. I hand selected a very limited quantity of these stones from a batch for their precision faceting and flawless even deep purple coloring. Premium African Amethyst has a much richer deep purple coloring compared to the less expensive lighter purple Brazilian Amethyst. This luxurious gemstone is hard to find in this quality, and it is really striking!
